With hearts heavy with grief, Palestine and the Arab nation today bid farewell to a voice that spoke truth for decades, and to an artist who never wavered from the compass of Jerusalem. The Palestinian Forum in Britain mourns to our Palestinian people, in the diaspora and at home, and to lovers of committed art, the distinguished artist and creative composer Ahmad Kaabour, who has passed away after a life rich in giving and artistic struggle.
The late artist was known for his warm, resonant voice, carrying the concerns and suffering of the Palestinian people, dedicating his art throughout his life to the service of the cause. His melodies and words stood as a weapon against injustice and a beacon of hope in the hearts of the free.
At the Palestinian Forum in Britain, we remember with appreciation and affection the moments we shared with the late artist, who honoured us as a cherished guest at the annual Palestine Festival organised by the Forum. We built with him a strong and sincere relationship, witnessing his deep sense of belonging and commitment. His presence and engagement with the Palestinian and Arab community in Britain left a lasting impact that will remain etched in our memory.
The loss of Ahmad Kaabour is a great one for resistance art, yet our consolation lies in the enduring legacy he leaves behind — a body of work that will continue to be echoed by the free generation after generation.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, his companions, and to the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples, asking Almighty God to grant him His vast mercy, admit him into His eternal paradise, and grant his loved ones patience and solace.
Indeed, to God we belong and to Him we shall return.
