Addressing Injustice: The Balfour Declaration Legacy and Halting the Gaza Genocide

In response to the dire situation in Gaza, the Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) strongly condemns the ongoing tragedy. More than 9,000 lives, including 40% of innocent children, have been lost. This catastrophe is a somber reflection of the historical injustice initiated by the Balfour Declaration, a document that laid the groundwork for the Palestinian people’s dispossession and suffering.

The Balfour Declaration, issued in 1917, carries significant historical responsibility, as it instigated the displacement of Palestinians from their ancestral lands. Its ramifications persist in the ongoing conflict, necessitating acknowledgment of the United Kingdom’s historical role in the Palestinian people’s plight.

In light of this historical legacy, the PFB calls upon the UK to recognize its responsibility and take a principled stance against the Gaza genocide. The UK must leverage its influence to urge Israel to immediately cease hostilities, lift the Gaza blockade, and honour the rights and dignity of Palestinians. This is not only a moral imperative but a historical obligation for the UK to actively pursue a just and enduring resolution that upholds Palestinian rights.

The Palestinian Forum in Britain urges the UK government to show solidarity with the people of Gaza and calls on the UK and the international community to confront the historical legacy of the Balfour Declaration. Together, we must contribute to a peaceful resolution that ensures justice and security for Palestinians who have suffered oppression, death, and displacement for decades.

We invite individuals from all walks of life to join us in solidarity and raise their voices against the Gaza atrocities. Let us unite and demand an end to the war and justice for the Palestinian people. Your presence is significant; your actions can drive change. Stand with us, speak out against injustice, and together, let’s strive for a future of peace and dignity for Palestinians.

Join the next major protest on Saturday, 4 November, at 2:30 PM in Trafalgar Square. Let us stand united, demanding an end to the war and justice for the Palestinian people.
