Show Racism and Genocide the Red Card: Join the National Rally in Birmingham Today

The Palestine Coalition is calling on people of conscience across the UK to gather in Birmingham today, Thursday 6 November 2025, at 6 PM, for a National Rally under the banner:

“Show Racism and Genocide the Red Card.”

The rally will take place at Aston Pavilion, Trinity Road, Aston (B6 6JD), bringing together communities, activists, and football supporters to send a loud and united message: No to racism.

For more than two years, since the genocide in Gaza began on 7 October 2023, the Birmingham Palestine Coalition has been at the forefront of nationwide mobilisations demanding an end to Israel’s atrocities and the UK’s complicity.

From the massive National March for Palestine in London, which saw over a million people fill the streets, to weekly demonstrations in Birmingham, Manchester, and Glasgow, the coalition has ensured that the cry for justice for Palestine remains alive and unshakable.

Today’s rally carries a special significance for football fans and anti-racist campaigners alike. Football has always been a powerful space for solidarity — from the campaigns that helped isolate apartheid South Africa, to modern movements that challenge discrimination across sport.

Adnan Hmidan, PFB acting chairman, stated:

“Football has a long history of standing up against racism and injustice, and it must do so again. Israel’s apartheid regime cannot be normalised in sport while it commits genocide in Gaza. Just as South Africa was isolated, Israel must face sanctions until justice and freedom prevail for the Palestinian people.”

The Birmingham Palestine Coalition is urging UEFA and FIFA to act on their own rules and suspend Israel from international football for its relentless violations of human rights, including the bombing of Palestinian sports facilities, the killing of athletes, and the denial of the right to play freely under occupation.

The message is clear: football cannot claim to stand against racism while turning a blind eye to genocide.

Supporters of Aston Villa have been among the most vocal fans standing in solidarity with Palestine, making today’s event especially symbolic. As the rally’s slogan declares:

“We stand with Aston Villa – Palestine will live forever!”

The Birmingham Palestine Coalition invites everyone: football fans, families, students, trade unionists, and community members, to stand together today.

Your presence matters. Every voice strengthens the message that Britain rejects racism, genocide, and apartheid.
