London – Wednesday, 8 October 2025
The Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) announced the organisation of candlelight vigils on the evening of Wednesday, 8 October 2025, in several UK cities to commemorate two years since the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
PFB calls on Palestinians, Arabs, and all supporters of human rights and justice to take part in these vigils, held under the banner:
“Join us in Vigil & Remembrance – Two Years of Genocide in Gaza.”
The message of the campaign is clear:
“Stand with us in solidarity, light a candle, and demand justice.”
The vigils will begin at 6:00pm (UK time) in several key locations, including:
- London: Opposite the Prime Minister’s Office, 68 Whitehall Road, SW1A 2AT
- Manchester: Outside the Whitworth Building, Oxford Road, M13 9PL
- Newcastle: At Grey’s Monument, 150 Grainger Street, NE1 5AF (5:30pm)
- Edinburgh: In front of Queen Elizabeth House, EH8 8FT
PFB affirms that these events are being held in honour of the tens of thousands of martyrs who have been killed in Gaza during two years of ongoing aggression, and as an expression of the continuing popular and legal efforts to end the genocide, lift the siege, and hold war criminals accountable.
PFB notes that, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza, 66,148 Palestinians have been killed, 168,716 injured, and 9,500 remain missing, many believed to be under the rubble. Israeli forces have detained more than 6,691 civilians, while direct losses in vital sectors have exceeded $70 billion.
Palestinian reports indicate that nearly 98% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, including 611 mosques completely demolished, 214 partially damaged, and three churches. Estimates suggest that Gaza has lost around 10% of its population through deaths, injuries, and disappearances, while famine and disease are spreading widely.
PFB stresses that what is taking place in Gaza goes far beyond a humanitarian catastrophe and constitutes a documented act of genocide. The organisation calls on the international community to fulfil its legal and moral responsibility to stop this crime and to deliver justice for its victims.
